direct Congress to remove unfair and arbitrary burdens from the United States Post Office.

Created by S.B. on February 06, 2013

The United State Post Office is required to fund 75 years of health and pension benefits in a 10 year period. Congress placed this burden on them in 2006. No other business is forced to adhere to such a practice, and many businesses would not survive if they had to meet this standard. Further, the post office is prohibited from offering other services to customers which would increase their revenue.

Mail delivery is guaranteed in the Constitution and yet the USPS recieves no government funding. It is the largest employer of veterans and minorities. It is also the only company which delivers mail to rural areas not served by UPS and FedEx.

Congress placed this burden on the USPS and Congress should remove it so that the USPS operates on an even playing field with other businesses.
