As of creation of this petition, the current estimated Federal Debt is $17,583,223,196,074.74. Our tax revenues, which hold this great country aloft, can only be stretched so thin. Yet, even as a majority of Americans have expressed their desire to see Marijuana made into legitimate health and business ventures, we continue to spend an inordinate amount of money on failed incarceration and enforcement policies. Our jails are overcrowded and underfunded. We repeatedly send non-violent marijuana users to length sentences in prison, while heinous acts of violence are given minor sentences. Our country has been on the wrong side of history for too long. Direct the Attorney General and the DEA to reschedule or remove Marijuana from it's drug schedule. Let's stop imprisoning the innocent.
