We petition the President to direct the Department of Defense to authorize a Cold War Service Medal.
From 1945 until 1991, the military of the United States of America was engaged in an overlooked war. The Cold War began at the end of the Second World War and lasted until December 21st, 1991. During this time, service members in the United States military trained and stood ready to defend the United States and the world from Communism. Many service members were injured and killed during this period of 'peace'. The Cold War Service Medal would recognize the sacrifices that American service members made during this time period.
