Eric Harris died at the hands of a 73 year old "reserve deputy" who mistook his police revolver for a taser and shot and killed the already restrained man. The "deputy" is a local insurance company CEO who served as the Chairman of the Tulsa Police Chief's re-election campaign, contributed $2500 to his campaign, and regularly took the Chief on fishing trips to the Bahamas.
Why was this man participating in a police sting operation? Why was he the one to decide that the suspect, already restrained, required tasing? Why could he not tell the difference between a taser and a gun? How much training did he receive?
A man is dead. The deputy has been charged, but the DOJ needs to investigate the cronyism and corruption that apparently runs deep in the TPD. Justice demands an investigation now!
