Direct the FAA to relax rules for use of electronic devices on commercial flights, based on scientific evidence.

The current FAA rules for the use of electronic devices, such as tablets, laptops, etc., are unnecessarily restrictive. As described in a recent New York Times article ("Disruptions: The Real Hazards of E-Devices on Planes", by Nick Bilton, Dec. 30, 2012), there is no scientific evidence that such devices interfere with the operation of the airplane. The FAA has been too slow to act in response to criticism of the rules, and an executive order would force the agency to move more quickly.
