The FDA has prohibited gay and bisexual men (specifically, men who've had sex with men) from donating blood at blood drives, hospitals, etc. because they've characterized gay and bisexual men as "at risk" Of having HIV. Other "at risk" groups are limited based upon travel restrictions or lifestyle choices, like drug use. The government does make a distinction based upon natural circumstances. For example, African American young women are a similar "at risk" group, but are permitted to donate blood. To prohibit them would be racism. Why should gay and bisexual men be prohibited from performing this critical service, simply because of homophobia?
Blood is screened before it is distributed to patients. Please stop this homophobic practice and permit gay and bisexual men to donate blood.
