American Crossroads GPS and other dark-money non-profits testified to the Federal Election Commission that they would not spend money on political campaigns. As we saw during the past election, this is obviously not what happened. Hundreds of millions of dollars were spent by these groups on advertising and robo-calls. These dark-money groups are allowed to influence elections but do not have to disclose their donors. This is a violation of the spirit and letter of campaign finance law.
