The 2/29/2012 tornadoes which ripped through southern Illinois left seven dead, many injured and millions in property damage and losses. FEMA has denied Illinois' request for federal assistance. This follows the denial of assistance for flooding in our region in 2011.
Our state is broke and the federal government proves again that it's out of touch. Thousands of people from all over the country have come to the aid of our communities because it is right. They should not be doing (and paying for) what is the government's job.
Please urge FEMA to reconsider its decision and provide federal assistance to our area.
