As a nation we need to become more aware of where the products we buy are manufactured. Consumer awareness is the first step in decreasing our nation’s trade deficit and returning jobs to the US. By mandating the Country of Origin (i.e. "Made in USA") appear on the front of every product sold in the USA, consumers become more aware of where their dollars are going.
Our nation’s trade deficit with China is sending both jobs and capital overseas at an alarming rate. The US cannot expect to remain a Superpower when the products we use in everyday life are produced in nations that do not share our values. Without a manufacturing base we only further degrade our own National Security. We have to return to being a nation of both Designers and Builders!
