Home lenders are currently witholding millions of dollars in much needed paid insurance claims under the guise of fraud protection. The result is that tens of thousands of families are unable to effect repairs on their homes as they do not have the money to lay out for the work to be reimbursed at a later date.
Many of these lenders received significantly more millions in Federal Aid during the "banking crisis" of the last decade. It is fundamentally unfair for these lenders to receive disaster relief yet deny their customers the same.
We ask the President to:
1) require all lenders to release the entire insurance claim paid to their customers immediately.
2) have the lenders return all interest they have received from holding these funds to their customers.
