To direct the Interior Department to prevent the construction of the GTac mine in Northern Wisconsin's Penokee Hills.

A bill recently signed into law by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker allows the GTac mining company to fill in pristine streams and ponds with mine waste in Northern Wisconsin's Penokee Hills, at the headwaters of the Bad River, which flows into Lake Superior. The proposed mine is so potentially destructive, that the iron mining process itself would release sulfides into the watershed and even asbestos into the air we breath. The Bad River Chippewa tribe has petitioned the President to stop the mine. But they should not stand alone. As writer Dan Kaufman put it, "Wisconsin's admirable history of environmental stewardship is under attack."
