We, the people, request the Obama administration to direct the Secretary of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service to make the taxpayer Identity Protection (IP) PIN program available to all taxpayers nationwide upon request.
Identity theft is rampant nationwide. The effects of identity theft are far reaching and difficult to deal with. The Internal Revenue Service has now become an unwitting accomplice in identity theft by providing the Get Transcript feature which has been abused to expose the personal information of thousands of American taxpayers.
As taxpayers, we do not have a great wealth of tools available to us that help protect us from being compromised by tax refund fraud. This is why the IRS should accelerate the adoption for the IP PIN program for all Americans.
