Direct the Justice Department to investigate abusive gerrymandering in several states.

Created by D.Z. on January 26, 2013

Voting is one of the most cherished rights that we as American Citizens have. When actions are taken to diminish the value of citizens votes as compared to their neighbors, an injustice is done.

In many states an attempt is currently being made to redraw districts to secure the districts of that state for one political party. An example of this is Pennsylvania, where Democrats recently won both statewide elections with a majority yet Republicans hold a clear majority of the PA seats for the House of Representatives.

The justice department should seek to challenge such district maps as a violation of the equal protection clause. Miller v Jonhson should be the precedent.

One political party should not be able to keep another out of power by redistricting.
