Direct the labor department to abandon attempts to regulate labor of children under 16 on farms (family or otherwise).

The labor department is proposing to restrict the tasks that children under 16 are able to do on a farm. The details of this change are found in press release 11-1250-NAT from the department of labor. Agriculture work by the young is a way of life in rural America. It is important to the livelihood of farms of all sizes, to the education of new farmers, and is a touchstone of rural culture. The Department of Labor's intrusion will prevent farm managers from paying willing young workers a legal wage and will be seen as an overreach by Washington into tightly knit communities all across the country. This policy is unwise, unpopular, and unproductive. Please take immediate action by halting this Labor Department initiative.
