direct the Secretary of HHS to issue a Statement clarifying Autism is a Neurological Condition not Psychiatric.

Created by B.K. on April 13, 2012

The American Psychiatric Association is drastically changing the DSM and attempting to redefine Autism even though Autism is a Neurological (Neurodevelopmental) condition and not a Psychiatric or Metal Disorder like the APA tries to portray.

In reality the APA has no medical expertise surrounding Autism since Autism is a medical condition and not in the realm of Mental Health. The problem lies in the DSM being a golden rule in which the U.S. Government and most states use to identify Autism and therefore with the proposed changes nearly 50% of diagnosed people with Autism Spectrum Disorders would lose Programs/Services and Medical Care (According to Yale) if the APA is successful in its proposal.

The changes the APA proposes are not in spirit with 42 USC 15001 SEC. 101. (a)(1).
