Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin wrote a letter to Vice-President Joe Biden stating that he and his deputies would not enforce any stricter gun control laws in their county. This type of rhetoric has to end, and law enforcement officials deciding for themselves what laws to enforce sets a dangerous precedent in the USA. If he had to read aloud his letter, in the face of the families of the victims, it might help curb this type of behavior, or at least shed more light on the effects it creates.
