Dental amalgam is known to off-gas mercury vapor with heat, abrasion, placement and removal of fillings. Chronic mercury exposure fuels behavioral, cognitive, immune, and neurological diseases, especially in genetically susceptible children and adults - about 20% of the population. Yet the FDA still considers it safe.
The FDA's Scientific Advisory Panel on Amalgam calls for restricting its use. FDA requires warnings only for dentists, not patients, with no restrictions or specific prior informed written consent. Control of amalgam use must be removed from FDA, ADA and the dental industry.
The International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology, Hidden River Health Challenge, and others believe Americans deserve to know the health hazards of amalgam - banned or restricted in other nations
