The Office of Foreign Asset Control of the Treasury Department has issued sanctions severely limiting or prohibiting the editing or publication of works by Syrian authors. This is in direct violation of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution and laws passed by Congress stating that OFAC has no authority to regulate "information or informational materials."
This petition requests that the President direct the Secretary of the Treasury to repeal these illegal sanctions, and allow the free and open publication of Syrian works.
