Direct the US Forest Service to move the devotional Jesus shrine from federal property atop Big Mountain (Montana).

Created by K.S. on October 28, 2011

The Administration should enforce the constitutional principle of separation between state and church, by directing the US Forest Service to remove the devotional Jesus shrine on federal property atop Big Mountain in Flathead National Forest.

Federal land has been misappropriated for 56 years for the direct benefit of the Knights of Columbus men’s club and its sectarian religious symbol.

The special use permit records the purpose as "to provide a site for a religious shrine." Even though the “war memorial” rationale is a sham, it would be impermissible for the federal government to host a sectarian display. This excludes non-Christian veterans, including the many “atheists in foxholes” who have served our country with distinction and valor. The Jesus statue belongs on private property.
