direct the Veterans Administration to implement a solution to the one year back log on benefits processing for veterans.

Created by D.D. on March 28, 2013

Currently the Veterans Administration has a back log of over 900,000 records awaiting benefits processing with the average time to process to be in excess of 270 days, despite a 40% increase in the departments operating budget. This is due to the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration using two different spreadsheet programs to track active duty and veterans records. So in 90%+ of cases the Veterans Administration is instead using paper records.
There is NO GOP obstruction in this issue. It is entirely an administration and bureaucratic created issue, which could be fixed with concerted effort on the part of the White House by directing the two agencies to use one joint tracking system, and hiring more case managers.
