We believe that the elected officials in our federal government should have a vested interest in bettering the economy. Further, their current high salary causes many to pursue a career of politics, which is contrary to the vision our forefathers had for our government.
Therefore, we propose that the salary of each elected official should be tied directly to the average income of their constituency for the previous tax year.
We also believe that for our elected officials to accurately know what is happening with their constituency, there should be no premium healthcare, pensions, or other such benefits that their constituency does not have. We propose that the benefits that each elected official receives should be equivalent to what their constituency would have available.
