Director Tom Frieden of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention should be forced to resign

Created by M.A. on October 10, 2014

Dr. Tom Frieden, the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, should be fired for questionable handling of viruses. The CDC shipped lethal strains of the influenza virus, active anthrax samples, and smallpox. He did not know for months what had happened. According to the CDC's own press release these incidents began occurring on March 12, 2014. On March 19, 2014 the first outbreak of the Ebola virus was detected in Guinea. The CDC's lack of security protocols, the amount of time it took to detect the problem, and the incident occurring so close to the Ebola outbreak raises serious questions about Dr. Frieden's capabilities to run the CDC. Also, Julia Pierson was forced to resign as Secret Service Director for one incident. The same standards should apply to Dr. Frieden.
