disallow the $2 fee/month which Verizon plans to charge each customer for merely paying their bill online.

Created by M.W. on December 31, 2011

Verizon Wireless has announced that, starting January 15th, it will charge a $2 monthly "convenience" fee to people who save paper by making one-time credit or debit card payments on the phone or online, while those who use checks or have Verizon charge their credit/debit cards (or deduct money from their bank accounts) each month, will not pay. We implore the White House to disallow this unfair practice. In effect, using a debit card is no different than providing information to draft bank accounts, it is clear that Verizon wants control of that information; what rate a customer pays each month; and additional fees from those least able to afford it.
