disallow employers from "non-security" related industries to view convictions of minor offenders after period of time...

Created by M.L. on October 18, 2011

There are many hard-working Americans who have made mistakes in their lives. Many have paid their debt to society and "learned their lesson" yet these same people may have difficulty finding employment because of what employers see after conducting a criminal background check. This is only conducive to their unemployment which in some cases may lead to another crime. We can provide more employment opportunities, likely increase citizen safety, and help these people to be law abiding, tax paying citizens instead of in the penal system or on the welfare roles. After a period of no convictions such as 3-5 years after a misdemeanor conviction and and possibly even 7-10 years after CERTAIN felony convictions employers or private citizens should not be allowed to view a persons background.
