The noise pollution from seismic airgun testing in the Atlantic Ocean is estimated to injure and potentially kill over 100,000 marine mammals. Not only will seismic airgun testing put the survival of thousands of dolphins and whales at risk, it will also disrupt the migration, feeding, and reproductive patterns for an estimated 13.6 million other marine mammals and it has been shown to have a negative impact on the fishing industry. We should not be killing large numbers of marine mammals and disrupting the marine ecosystem for the benefit of the oil and gas companies. We have other sustainable alternatives on the rise such as biofuels, wind, and solar that should be pursued instead. We ask that the Obama administration disallow seismic airgun testing in the Atlantic Ocean.
