Rampant police brutality and the tendency of police forces to rely on lethal options when non-lethal options are available and viable show a disregard for the lives of citizens officers are supposed to protect. Retraining has been tried and failed. We demand that the federal government, by any means necessary, remove lethal weaponry from the arsenals of city, county, and state police. Any officer of the law who would interact with any citizen in the course of duty shall not be permitted to carry any lethal weaponry at any time. SWAT units would be permitted to retain their armaments, but use would be restricted to extreme situations, not search warrants and "no-knock" raids. Advances in less-lethal armaments make this completely viable, as proven by every other modern Western nation.
