The electoral college is an antiquated system. It was originally installed by our federal government to "help" a less sophisticated voter base elect a president in an age before the telegraph was even invented.
It is the 21st century now. The internet has been an active part of everyday life for over 20 years. Information and ideas are spreading at an exponential pace. Today's voter is more sophisticated than over 200 years ago, but also completely disheartened and apathetic towards an electoral system that does not give their vote any true merit.
Put the power of the voting process back in the individual's hands. Do away with the archaic electoral college and put forth a bill that will allow Americans to vote for their president in a popular vote format.
