Disband the electoral college and have presidential elections be decided by popular vote

Created by T.B. on January 04, 2013

The Electoral College was at one point an effective way to run an election, but that time has passed. Nowadays with access to electronic voting machines, we are able to easily count individual votes. With the electoral college in place it is possible for someone to win a presidential election with only 20% of the popular vote, but win the electoral college. Another flaw is that Electoral college members are not even required to vote for the candidate their state voted for, which has happened in numeral cases.
