Disband the electoral college and let the people elect the Commander in Chief

Created by A.C. on November 09, 2016

This recent election was a historical event for many reasons. One reason is that Donald John Trump was the fifth president to be elected by winning the electoral college while losing the popular vote.
The fact that a candidate could get more votes from the general public yet still lose the election is antithetical to democracy.
If any candidate has the better ethos, then they should be able to win based solely upon the popular vote. Abolishing the electoral college is a victory for democracy. That is why congress should put forth a constitutional amendment to disband the electoral college and allow the people to decide our leader.
