It has been clearly shown that a large majority of a politicians time must be spent on campaign finance, that often their success may solely rest on their ability to collect and distribute funds and not on their personal experience that grants a politician the ability to understand their fellow citizens. At the same time, any citizen that enjoys the privilege of owning business gets additional power not available to the vast majority of American citizens.
This petition calls for stronger regulatory oversight, the removal or limitation of donations from businesses to a level comparable to the average private citizen, and a cap on donations from citizens to legitimize the need for politicians to treat everyone equally.
