discontinue minting the American Penny.

Created by N.E. on April 11, 2013

In 1792 the first U.S. mint created five coins; the half-penny, penny, nickel, dime, and quarter. The half-penny has since been discontinued and the penny should be as well.
Money is used for the exchange of goods and services, and the penny no longer does that effectively. America should do as other countries have done and remove the one cent coin from circulation. Due to inflation, the penny’s value has been falling farther and farther past the point of practicality. With simple rounding, you would never notice the difference. The only change would be that you dont have hundreds of useless pennies taking up space in your home.
