In 2013, the cost to manufacture a penny cost nearly twice its face value. Realistically, pennies are commonly tossed away or thrown into jars where they never see daylight again. More and more countries are beginning to realize the benefit of removing their pennies - Canada most recently. We are wasting money on currency that is useless!
