With the present state of the economy and national debt this petition is to discontinue all pension benefits awarded to congressman and senators who serve less than 20 years. They should never at any time have better coverage than what people have through medicare.
Serving is a public service and a great stepping stone for our congressman, especially when these congressman have an education and no problem competing in the private sector.
Before anyone should ever talk about cuts to medicare and social security this should be the first cut considering that every american has paid their share and worked their lives to collect those benefits. These people have the most opportunity after serving in office.
This will also help to decrease our budget and deficit.
