If the official website of the White House is going to offer citizens a voice in government through a petitions website, than that website should actually influence policy instead of simply restating the administrations current policy. As such it is simply another mouthpiece for disseminating policy instead of an actual voice in government and should be disbanded because it is dishonest and a waste of taxpayer funds.
Until the white house is willing to act on petitions, such a web site serves no purpose except to give a false impression of access that can be used in campaigning.
The illusion of power is not what 'We the People' deserve. We desire a responsive government that actually considers our concerns and doesn't condescend to ask for our opinions and then ignore them.
