Discontinue the printing of $1 bills to facilitate the regular use and circulation of $1 coins

Created by J.K. on November 30, 2012

In the current economic state it is clear that cost-saving measures should be implemented as much as possible. This petition respectfully requests that the United States phase out the $1 bill in favor for $1 coins. Paper money is not in circulation nearly as long as coins due to their obvious susceptibility to wear and tear. Hence, money is spent in order to print more bills. Coins last in circulation much longer and costs to create $1 units of currency would be greatly reduced.

"The US Government Accountability Office...explained that eliminating the $1 bill in favor of a $1 coin could save the United States roughly $5.5 billion over the next 30 years."

This is quoted from the story here: http://rt.com/usa/news/eliminating-usa-bills-america-billions/

Let's cut costs and use $1 coins!
