After a government official is no longer in office, they should no longer be paid. The following offices are paid salaries for the rest of their lives: President $450,000 yearly, House/Senate members$174,000 yearly, Speaker of the House $233,500 yearly, Majority/Minority Leaders $194,400 yearly.
