Flight Pay was a post WW II financial incentive to encourage military pilots to remain on active duty and not to leave for higher paying jobs flying for civilian airlines. Since civilian airlines now have salaries that are often less than the military's Base Pay, it makes no sense to waste tax dollars on Flight Pay when pilots can't find comparable paying jobs with civilian airlines. This includes Drone pilots, the ones who fly an aircraft from a desk. If any supplemental allowance is to be given, it should equal what boots on the ground receive in a direct combat situation.
