We would like the US Government to stop the use, circulation and minting of the penny coin. We argue that coin no longer has a valid reason for existing.
* The economic cost to design, manufacture and distribute the coin is somewhere in the 2 to 3 cents per penny coin.
* The carbon footprint (green house) cost to mine, smelter and mint the coin is unacceptable.
* Funds no longer in the federal budget.
* The human man hour cost for industry and merchants to account for the coin in their businesses is absurdly high compared to its value.
* Roughly half of all the pennies distributed have and do end up in coin jars and piggy banks.
* It is anticipated that pricing items to the penny will remain just as pricing gallons of gas for our cars has remained to a tenth of a cent.
