This is a petition to discontinue the use of social security numbers during the credit application process, and/or require that companies that extend credit must take additional measures to verify an applicant's identity.
There have been increasing cases of theft and/or leaks of personal information. Social security numbers pose the greatest threat, exposing those whose information has been stolen or exposed to a lifetime of concern.
With millions of social security numbers stolen or leaked, the primary use of social security numbers is no longer a sensible solution.
