Daylight Savings Time was originally established throughout the 1900s as a means of adjusting daylight hours so that businesses that rely on them would have increased success. However, in this era of rapid globalization and 24-hour operation, the biannual shift in international timekeeping causes the benefits of DST to be minimized and the lightly disruptive effects on scheduling and shipping to be more and more apparent. The practice has lost it's effectiveness and mostly serves to cause disturbances among employers and workers who find their clocks requiring re-adjustment for no apparent reason. While a minor issue certainly, this is a matter that would be easily addressed and solved if brought to governmental attention, and hopefully smooth out archaic inefficiencies in the future.
