Discuss in a speech or interview how the president has lived up to his promise to increase transparency in government.

Created by N.M. on June 10, 2013

Early in his administration President Obama pledged to "usher in a new era of open government."

The president's commitment is summed up at
(http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/TransparencyandOpenGovernment) :

"My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government."

Now in his second term, the president should make a speech, give an interview, or make a detailed statement, focusing on how he believes he has implimented this goal, what challenges he has faced in this area, and what his commitment means for the future.
