Disestablish all current political parties in these United State and furthermore prevent the creation of new political parties. Also prohibit candidates from describing themselves as belonging to one of the former political parties. Voting machines would also need to be updated to have no mention of political affiliation and removal of the straight party levers / buttons.
This will ensure candidates are elected based on their merits and viewpoints, not talking points from some party overlords / financiers.
