We believe that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) should be dismantled or, at the very least, scaled back to the restrictions placed upon it before the terror attacks of 9/11. The DHS is the most bloated, inefficient, and detrimental agency in our government today. As pointed out by Charles Kenny, "Beyond the waste of money and the overregulation, the expansion of the homeland security state has created unnecessary fear among a population that should be able to trust its government to send accurate signals about risk."(1)
