Voting is the basis of our country, that everyone has a voice, and everyone has a say in their government. Despite this, many Americans believe that their vote does not matter in the overall count, leading to a continuously lower voter turnout during elections.
I propose as a way to strengthen the value of an individual's vote, the electoral college should be eliminated in favor of election based solely on the popular vote. This way a presidential election will not come down to which candidate wins a select group of states, but must appeal to the nation as a whole.
