The US Air Force is currently in the process of procuring two replacement aircraft to replace the current B747-200 (VC-25) aircrafts that generally serve as “Air Force One”. When the new aircrafts are in service, we believe that one of the VC-25 aircraft should be transferred to the Smithsonian’s Air & Space Steven F. Udvar-Hazy center in the suburban Washington, DC area. We ask the president to ask congress to authorize this transfer. The Udvar-Hazy center is connected to Washington Dulles International airport by a taxiway allowing for easy transfer of the aircraft. Most other museums would not be able to easily receive an aircraft this large. We believe an “Air Force One” aircraft should be on display in the national capital area.
