This petition is in opposition to a position fueled by ignorance. The ban on homosexual men donating blood arises from serious concern surrounding HIV, a disease with high prevalence in the homosexual community. The current limitation is in effect to prevent false negatives and to protect the public from currently uncurable disease. No accredited doctor believes that being gay is transmittable. Please, disregard the petition calling for a lift on this ban, a ban which is not aimed to limit the rights of any person but to keep the public in good health.
