There are those in this country who wish to destroy the very foundations upon which this nation was founded. Requests to remove "God" from everything associated with government is part of that effort.
These are the same people who would like to do away with the Constitution as well.
There are as many, if not more Americans who equally request that the petitions requesting this action be ignored in the same manner as if they had requested each of them to be awarded unlimited free money from the U.S. Treasury for the rest of their lives.
