Disregard Petitions for Secession

Created by D.E. on November 14, 2012

Every State has the right and responsibility to seek redress for grievance from the Federal Government, and an obligation to its citizens to exhaust all avenues for such before commiting to the extremity of secession, yet none have.

Further, authority to approve secession is outside the scope of Federal Government, and may lie only with the people of the nation in revolution.

More importantly, we, the people, are the government; any among us that disagree with our Country's course may take up the same tools - due process and the ballot - used to chart it.

Americans should never despair of such work: While progress may be slow, it is steady and true.

Thus we ask that you disregard any petition requesting approval of State withdrawal from the United States of America.
