Since there have been secession petitions signed by citizens from all 50 states, it would seem that these secessionists would like to basically dissolve the Union.
Would this mean dissolving the United States of America and returning to the Articles of Confederation?
I suggest we start from square one, and return to British Colonial rule.
I think this is essentially what the secessionists are asking for; either a loose confederation, or a return to colonial rule.
Is that what it means to be a patriotic American? The founding fathers most certainly wanted states to be able to secede, especially if the result of the democratic process wasn't to their liking.
