Do away with Columbus Day or Rename it Bartolomé Day!

Columbus Day was established in the 1930's by a male-only Catholic Organization known as The Knights of Columbus. They wanted a male, catholic role-model their children could look up to, so they pressured Roosevelt into making it a federal holiday.
Christopher Columbus was awful; a mass murderer, sex slaver and Father of the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
Bartolomé, on the other hand, started out much like Columbus; a wealthy adventurer who traveled to the New World, where he would own a plantation with many slaves. Unlike Columbus, de las Casas underwent a radical transformation in his life after witnessing the atrocities to the Native peoples. He was given the title, "Defender of the Indians" and spent the next 50 years fighting, becoming one of the first universal human rights advocate
